Special Effects

When we took are trip to Barry Island and the YMCA centre we learnt a lot about what it takes to make a good music video and what we need to include to make it good. As a group down there we made a music video to the intro to "the fresh prince of bel air" and we got given in pairs 10 seconds of that video which we would plan and film that 10 seconds then we went on to put them all together to make the video. From doing this we learnt a lot of special effects and stuff we would need to take into account when we go on to make are own music videos in our groups. The first being the planning, this is very important because you need to make sure you know what you are doing and when and if the video is planned well it is going to show as it will look a lot better than if it wasn't planned. When planning you need to make sure you have everything planned out so everything will run smoothly, this type of planning includes what shots you are going to have and what camera angles you are going to have and at point in the song are you going to have them so when it comes to putting the music over the top it will be a lot easier to find and add it in.We also learned that when filming that if you just have the camera in one position the shot is going to get boring. So when it comes to us filming our own music video we know that we need to move the camera and use lots of different angles to make it more interesting and it will show off are skills and hopefully would gets us more marks. Also when filming linking in with the planning you need to have everything you want to do planned out so you can quickly move from one to the other, otherwise you are going to waiting around wasting time planning what you want to next and you will end up rushing it.We also learnt about editing and how important that is as that is what is going to make the video look good and run smoothly. While at the YMCA the editing that we did to our videos where that we added a background to the video and making sure that it looked like it was the actual background of the video. We also had to add the music over the top of the video and with that we had to make sure that I ran along in the right places so it linked in with lyrics and the original video. Which we will have to make sure we do it right when making our own video otherwise the video will look very amateur which would get us bad marks. We also used the green screen while we were at the YMCA this is a sheet that you perform upfront of then when it comes to editing that video you can put a picture as the background. This is good because you can get a good background that links in with the video that you are doing that otherwise you may not be able to get. This is good because you can get more unique backgrounds that you may not have otherwise and this could help us when it comes to our music video as we could put a background in that would look like the one that is used in the original music video. From doing this task I was able to learn what affects that I could add to my music video to make it look better and how I would do them if I was to use them it also gave me more ideas of how I could incorporate them into the music video that I am planning of making.

Music Video Directors

From doing this task I was able to look into the top music video directors across the world and the different techniques that they have when it comes to making music videos and the styles that they use. It has also given me the inspiration of the type of style that I want for my music video.

Music Labels

From doing this task I was able to learn about the main labels in the music market at the moment and I was able to see how much control the comglormates have over the music market and what affect that has on the small independent record labels.

Music Consumption

From doing this task I gave my the history into music videos and how they first came about and what devices that they were realised on then how they have evolved over the years to the stage that they are at now a days.

Lip Syncing

From doing this task I was able to practise my lip syncing skills this was by matching the lip syncing up with the lyrics at the right time with the aim to make it seamless which is what I want when it comes to filming my music video.

Audience Research

From doing this I was able to see what my projected audience liked about music videos so that I could incorporate that into my video so that I could make a video that they would enjoy as that is the audience that I am aiming my music video at.
