Photo Edits

From doing these I have learnt that with a photo I can make it look completely different by editing it and in some of my photos I am going to need to edit them so that they look different and still attract people into them

Ideas

I liked these two pieces of work and I wanted to base my cover of the digipak on them and my cover like them as they are unique and they stand out and I feel that they would make it look more like a blur cover that you would expect to see from them and that links with the song that we are re-making

Nelson Street Shoot

From doing this I have learnt that you need to mix up the type of photos in your digipak and doing this shoot it has given me a lot more options that I could use in my digipak which is what I want I don't want to be limited to a small amount of photos.

Park Shoot

From doing this I have learnt that to get the best pictures you need to go with your instictant and go for photos that you wouldn't normally because there is that chance that it may actually be the photo that you need to make your digipak stand out

Practise Filming Videos

These two scenes are going to have to be shoot again and the reason for that is that in the kettle one went he pours it you see us in the reflection of the the lid of the kettle which is what you don't want so we will have to do that again and make sure were not in it. Then with the other one of hi tying his shoe laces we had music on so his foot is moving and again that looks very unprofessional and will have to be done again.

Practise Filming Videos

We decided when filming that we would get the same action shoot from two different angles the reason for this is that we can show off our editing skills and merge them together to get a good shoot, it will also make it look more professional because you don't get a lot of long shoots in big artists music videos there are a lot of quick cutting scenes.

Practise Filming Videos

This section will have to be re-shhot the reason for this being that our actor wasn't able to do the tie so we then weren't able to get the shoot that we wanted from him so we need to make sure he can do it when it comes to re-shooting it otherwise we won't get the shoot that we want and need.

Practise Filming Videos

In these we felt that they were good because after we edit them and put them together they will make a good scene, what I did feel that we did wrong was that we only did one shot of each individual scene so if it comes to editing and we find out they aren't actually that good we are going to have to go back and re-shoot them so if we were to do it again I would have done around 4-5 takes of each one as the probability of one them being good enough to go in the music video is higher

Practise Filming Videos

From doing this piece of filming in particular we have learnt that we need to make sure that the camera is in focus when we are filming because in these individual pieces of filming they weren't in full focus and with that I feel that it made it look quite poor and if we were to do it again we would need to make sure that it was in focus and looked good.

Practise Filming Videos

For the lip syncing section of our video from doing this we have learnt that our actor needs to know the words of the songs and the parts when he needs to sing otherwise he is going to out of time and it will make it almost impossible to put the song over his singing. We have also learnt that he needs to look at the camera when he is singing otherwise he isn't going to be look confident and that will not draw people into our songs.

Practice Filming Videos

From doing this part of our filming we have learned that we need make sure that we do not appear in the reflection when we are filming which we struggled with and that we need to make sure that we still have the camera in the right position to get the shoot that we wanted to make it look as good as possible.

Updated Digipak Plan

From doing this I have leant that sometimes I have to change my work to make it better and in case my digipak needed to be changed otherwise it wouldn't have looked as good as I thought it would have.

Model Change

From this I have learnt that we need to plan for something to happen and we need to make sure that we have a back up to cover otherwise we aren't going to be able to do what we planned to do which is not what we want.

Digipak and Website Planning

Website

Digipak
Digipak Cover

From doing this I have learnt what I want my digipak and poster to look like, so whens it comes to making the two of them I will not be making the design on the spot and instead I will be following the plan that I have already wrote and it will make it look better.

Logo Planning

What I learnt?

From doing this task I was able to look at all possible logos for my artists with the use of dafont and from doing this I could find the logo that I think would suit my artist and the kind music that he makes and realises.

Photo Shoot Planning

Form doing this I have learnt what times I am going to do my photo shoot as I need to have it all planned out so I can do the shoot smoothly and quickly while still getting the right photos that I feel I will need to produce my digipak and poster

Fashion Planning

From doing this I have learnt of the style of clothing that we want our actor to wear throughout the video so that It links in with the point that we are trying to get across and we will have to make sure that we have the clothing that we are going to need.

Letter of Permission

From doing this I was able to learn the importance of getting the permission to use their song otherwise it would be copyrighting it which could learn some expensive expenses to myself.

Artist Research

From doing this I was able to see what the band that performed the song that I will be using were like so I could get an idea of how they would want the video to come across and how i could make it so that the links in with the video that I will be making.

Chosen Music Video & Lyrics

Confidence is a preference for the habitual voyeur of what is known as (parklife)
And morning soup can be avoided if you take a route straight through what is known as
(parklife)
John's got brewers droop he gets intimidated by the dirty pigeons
They love a bit of it (parklife)
Who's that gut lord marching... you should cut down on your porklife mate... get some
Exercise

[Chorus]
ALL THE PEOPLE
SO MANY PEOPLE
THEY ALL GO HAND IN HAND
HAND IN HAND THROUGH THEIR PARKLIFE

Know what I mean
I get up when I want except on Wednesdays when I get rudely awakened by the dustmen
(Parklife)
I put my trousers on, have a cup of tea and I think about leaving the house (parklife)
I feed the pigeons I sometimes feed the sparrows too it gives me a sense of enormous well
Being (parklife)
And then I'm happy for the rest of the day safe in the knowledge there will always be a bit
Of my heart devoted to it (parklife)

[Chorus]

Parklife (parklife)
Parklife (parklife)

It's got nothing to do with vorsprung durch technic you know
And it's not about you joggers who go round and round and round
Parklife (parklife)

Song Choice

From doing this particular task I was able to find out what song that we have decided to do for our music video so we can go on to build on it and look at ways we can make a good music video around this song.

Special Effects

When we took are trip to Barry Island and the YMCA centre we learnt a lot about what it takes to make a good music video and what we need to include to make it good. As a group down there we made a music video to the intro to "the fresh prince of bel air" and we got given in pairs 10 seconds of that video which we would plan and film that 10 seconds then we went on to put them all together to make the video. From doing this we learnt a lot of special effects and stuff we would need to take into account when we go on to make are own music videos in our groups. The first being the planning, this is very important because you need to make sure you know what you are doing and when and if the video is planned well it is going to show as it will look a lot better than if it wasn't planned. When planning you need to make sure you have everything planned out so everything will run smoothly, this type of planning includes what shots you are going to have and what camera angles you are going to have and at point in the song are you going to have them so when it comes to putting the music over the top it will be a lot easier to find and add it in.We also learned that when filming that if you just have the camera in one position the shot is going to get boring. So when it comes to us filming our own music video we know that we need to move the camera and use lots of different angles to make it more interesting and it will show off are skills and hopefully would gets us more marks. Also when filming linking in with the planning you need to have everything you want to do planned out so you can quickly move from one to the other, otherwise you are going to waiting around wasting time planning what you want to next and you will end up rushing it.We also learnt about editing and how important that is as that is what is going to make the video look good and run smoothly. While at the YMCA the editing that we did to our videos where that we added a background to the video and making sure that it looked like it was the actual background of the video. We also had to add the music over the top of the video and with that we had to make sure that I ran along in the right places so it linked in with lyrics and the original video. Which we will have to make sure we do it right when making our own video otherwise the video will look very amateur which would get us bad marks. We also used the green screen while we were at the YMCA this is a sheet that you perform upfront of then when it comes to editing that video you can put a picture as the background. This is good because you can get a good background that links in with the video that you are doing that otherwise you may not be able to get. This is good because you can get more unique backgrounds that you may not have otherwise and this could help us when it comes to our music video as we could put a background in that would look like the one that is used in the original music video. From doing this task I was able to learn what affects that I could add to my music video to make it look better and how I would do them if I was to use them it also gave me more ideas of how I could incorporate them into the music video that I am planning of making.

Music Video Directors

From doing this task I was able to look into the top music video directors across the world and the different techniques that they have when it comes to making music videos and the styles that they use. It has also given me the inspiration of the type of style that I want for my music video.

Music Labels

From doing this task I was able to learn about the main labels in the music market at the moment and I was able to see how much control the comglormates have over the music market and what affect that has on the small independent record labels.

Music Consumption

From doing this task I gave my the history into music videos and how they first came about and what devices that they were realised on then how they have evolved over the years to the stage that they are at now a days.

Lip Syncing

From doing this task I was able to practise my lip syncing skills this was by matching the lip syncing up with the lyrics at the right time with the aim to make it seamless which is what I want when it comes to filming my music video.

Audience Research

From doing this I was able to see what my projected audience liked about music videos so that I could incorporate that into my video so that I could make a video that they would enjoy as that is the audience that I am aiming my music video at.

Music Video Analysis

Music Video Analysis

Music Video Research, Music Video Analysis

Music Video Analysis

Performance Based
This kind of rare now a days as this type of music video could be seen as very boring as it is just the band singing but Green Day mange to make the video interesting by jumping around while playing their music so it makes it interesting. They also used Andrew Goodwin saying of getting lots of close up of the band and that keeps up with the pace of the song as it a very quick upbeat song.

Completely Narrative Based

In this music video they dont have a point where the band appear in the video I like in this that it links in with what Carol Vernallis said when she said that the title of the song links in with the actions of the characters, this also links in with what Goodwin said the relation between the Music and Visual. The video is also very interesting as they like the video with the lyrics and I think that is very good.

 Narrative Based

This music video shows an old man looking back at his past and his

past being portrayed in animation. the video also follows the lyrics
of the song and what is said in the song is what the person does.
The whole music video comes together to tell you a story which is
what you would need for it to be a narrative based music video.

Performance Based Narrative

This music video is good because it tells a story that links in with
song which is what Goodwin and Versailles said about. The music
video is of the person going to court which their girlfriend over
something and he is telling his side of the story and the main
character in it is played by  Plan B then with actions that they do it
keeps you hooked to the video.

Music Video Analysis

From doing this I was able to look at professional music videos and what effects they use in their videos to make them look as unique as they do and how they try to make them so that you remember them.

Barry Trip to YMCA

Today we went to YMCA in Barry, Wales. During our day there we learnt how to use the green screen and how to edit what we recorded on the green screen, we made a music video on the green screen and we learnt how to position the lights right so you could get the best from the green screen and it turned out that you had to in the centre of the screen to receive the best lighting so on the video you would look clear. By doing this it helped us because it meant that we could just drag a background onto the back instead of having to mess around trying to get it into the right place. We also used the new high tech cameras that they use for movies and we learnt how to make it so we could get the best out of it this was a new experience for me as I have not used a camera as good as that before and it was easy to see the difference in quality and price between them as the ones we used their were much better than them. As a class we came up with a music video that we wanted to re-making and we chose “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air” opening theme and we then decide that to make it easier and so everyone could get ago. We went into pairs and we all got given 10 seconds that we had to redo and we were in charge of that scene this included getting the actors, props, filming and editing. In our pair we first watched the 10 seconds which we have been given and ours was from 10 seconds to 20 seconds we then took that apart second by second and analgised what we had to do, we then went about finding the right people to perform in it and the props that we were going to use in it. During the filming I was queuing the actors to do what they did and my other partner filmed it.

After we filmed it we went back to our computer and we went ahead editing it, the first thing that we did was we cut it down to the bit that we wanted after that we went on the internet and looked for a background that we wanted to go over the green screen and we wanted to make sure that it looked like the original one. After we found the one we liked we dragged it over the video and edited to the same size of it. We then went about adding the music onto it this was probably the hardest part of the video as we had to make sure the music that we put on was right otherwise it would not be able to link in with the other clips are fellow classmates had made. Once we found it and had the right music and dragged it over and made one last check that it was right and then it was done.

From doing this I was able to see how they edit certain things together and it gave me a insight into how I will be able to do it in my later work to make it the best that it can be and what I need to make sure I need to get right to make it the best it possibly can.
