Today we went to YMCA in Barry, Wales. During our day there
we learnt how to use the green screen and how to edit what we recorded on the
green screen, we made a music video on the green screen and we learnt how to position
the lights right so you could get the best from the green screen and it turned
out that you had to in the centre of the screen to receive the best lighting so
on the video you would look clear. By doing this it helped us because it meant
that we could just drag a background onto the back instead of having to mess
around trying to get it into the right place. We also used the new high tech
cameras that they use for movies and we learnt how to make it so we could get
the best out of it this was a new experience for me as I have not used a camera
as good as that before and it was easy to see the difference in quality and
price between them as the ones we used their were much better than them. As a
class we came up with a music video that we wanted to re-making and we chose
“The Fresh Prince of Bel Air” opening theme and we then decide that to make it
easier and so everyone could get ago. We went into pairs and we all got given
10 seconds that we had to redo and we were in charge of that scene this
included getting the actors, props, filming and editing. In our pair we first
watched the 10 seconds which we have been given and ours was from 10 seconds to
20 seconds we then took that apart second by second and analgised what we had
to do, we then went about finding the right people to perform in it and the
props that we were going to use in it. During the filming I was queuing the
actors to do what they did and my other partner filmed it.
After we filmed it we went back to our computer and we went
ahead editing it, the first thing that we did was we cut it down to the bit
that we wanted after that we went on the internet and looked for a background
that we wanted to go over the green screen and we wanted to make sure that it
looked like the original one. After we found the one we liked we dragged it
over the video and edited to the same size of it. We then went about adding the
music onto it this was probably the hardest part of the video as we had to make
sure the music that we put on was right otherwise it would not be able to link in
with the other clips are fellow classmates had made. Once we found it and had
the right music and dragged it over and made one last check that it was right
and then it was done.
From doing this I was able to see how they edit certain things together and it gave me a insight into how I will be able to do it in my later work to make it the best that it can be and what I need to make sure I need to get right to make it the best it possibly can.
