The Kinks music video was realeased in 1967 and is know as one of the first music video, the song is about poverty and the misery that you got in the lower classes of London. The music video takes place in Little Green Street and the band members play undertakers who have come to collect a body. All the characters in the video is played by the band members this shows that they didn't have a lot of money to spend to the video or they felt that it was just an expense that they don't need but then when you compare that to now where all music videos have a lot of extras some even have around 500 extras in one 4 min music video. Also in the Dead End Street music video there was no special effects used which is expected for the time as they didn't have what we have now what we had back then this meant that the camera was very still and the video worked around that camera. There is also a seen in it where the camera is under the coffin when they are carrying it and they have to move out the way of it this part shows how different it is now because you would never find that now a days as the camera devices are so small they wouldn't have to move out the way of it. With them not using very good editing techniques the music video is very jumpy as they just jump from one camera angle to another where now a days the videos run more smoothly.
What I learnt?
From doing this music video I was able to see what music videos were like when they first started be made and the progression that they have made over the years but then on the other hand what has stayed the same between them over that time.
